Keeping your accounts safe.
Scam and fraud cases are a growing community concern, costing millions annually. Scams may look like:
- A text from scammers asking you to click a link to update your card details
- A message claiming you have unpaid tolls or fines, urging you to click a link to make payment
- Messages from scammers impersonating family members. They will continue to have a casual conversation before asking for money to help pay a bill or other urgent expenses.
If you have any concerns that you may have received a suspicious call or text, clicked on a suspicious link, or provided your personal information to a scammer, please contact us as soon as possible.
As another layer of protection, GMCU has an internal fraud team and an external card and NPP monitoring department that will assist with monitoring any suspicious transactions.
It's important to remember:
- We will never ask for your internet banking passcodes over the phone
- If you're unsure that you're speaking to a GMCU team member, hang up and call us on 1800 MY GMCU (1800 694 628)
- Don't click links or download apps or programs which seem unfamiliar or suspicious
- If you believe you have accidentally shared information with a scammer, change your online banking password immediately if possible, and contact us as soon as you can.
